This policy explains what information Lensly collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Lensly mobile app, the Lensly App Clip, and our website at lensly.camera (together, the “Service”).
01Data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service. The categories below describe what we may collect and why.
Account & identifiers
- Your email address, used to sign up or to claim a guest account.
- Your profile name.
- A device identifier or guest token so your films and uploads persist between sessions.
User content
- Photos you upload to a film.
- Film metadata such as title, description, dates, and settings.
Purchases
- Purchase receipts and product identifiers, validated through Apple's App Store, when you buy a paid plan or add-on.
Usage & diagnostics
- App and website analytics events, approximate location (city or region), device and operating-system information, performance metrics, and crash logs.
Website cookies
- Basic authentication and analytics cookies on lensly.camera.
Camera & photos
- We access your camera only while you are using the capture feature.
- We access your photo library only when you choose to select photos.
- These require your device permissions, and we never use them in the background.
App Store privacy summary
- Data linked to you: identifiers, purchases, user content, usage data, and diagnostics.
- Tracking: none.
- Third-party advertising: none.
02How we use data
We use the data we collect to:
- Operate the Service — creating films, sending invitations, handling uploads, and showing reveals.
- Process purchases and help prevent fraud.
- Communicate with you about invites, uploads, reveals, support, and important updates.
- Improve reliability and performance.
- Comply with the law and enforce our terms.
If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations.
04Data retention
- Active accounts: we retain your data for as long as your account exists.
- Deleted accounts: we remove your personal data within 30 days.
- Photos:kept until the film is deleted or your account is closed. If your photos appear in someone else's film, your attribution is anonymized.
- Purchase records: retained for up to 7 years to meet tax and legal requirements.
- Analytics: aggregated or anonymized data may be retained for longer.
05Security
- Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Data is encrypted at rest through our cloud providers' protections.
- We apply role-based access controls and monitoring.
- We notify affected users of breaches as required by law.
No security method is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
06Your choices and rights
In-app controls
- Delete your account from Settings — this is permanent and completes within 30 days.
- Manage push notifications through your device settings.
- Manage email notifications within the app.
Data requests
To access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, contact us at hello@lensly.camera. We may retain limited information where necessary for legal compliance and abuse prevention.
Region-specific rights
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, delete, and correct your data, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (which we do not do). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and restriction. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
07Children
The Service is not intended for users under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@lensly.camera and we will delete it.
08International transfers
We operate primarily in the United States. Your data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries, with appropriate safeguards in place where required.
09App Clip notes
The Lensly App Clip uses minimal data so guests can join a film and upload photos. Camera and network access are used only during active use, and this policy applies in full.
10Changes to this policy
We post updates to this policy on this page. For material changes, we will let you know in-app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
